Yes! Another horse

Here she is, our latest money pit = Cherokee. This one, however, is my fault.

4th of July Fireworks

Don't know what Brenden was doing, but thought this was a funny pic.

Fireworks with the Tillotson's. The kids had a blast! The weather was amazing. It was only in the low 80's during the day. The night was a little chilly.

4th of July 2010

What a fun day at the park! Watermelon eating contest, chicken chases, airplane candy drops, good food, good friends and good fun. Who could ask for more?

Blooming Flowers

I was just playing around with the camera and loved these flower shots.

I know, she has been 5 a while now!

Happy belated birthday Maren! I have had just a few things on my plate lately, go figure, and I am just now updating. June 27, 2010

Where has time gone? Our baby is five and off to kindergarten. We love you Maren!

Horses are for the birds!

Okay, I am sooooo DONE! About a month ago one of our horses, Lady, decided to impale herself on a t-stake in the pasture. After hours, Vet visit number one. Maggie gets burned. Doctor visits, too many to count. Then I go on a girls night to dinner and see Eclipse for the second time. I no sooner than walked in the door and Brenden asks if I heard about the emergency vet visit. A, Nope. After hours, vet visit number two. (Why can no one get hurt when it is cheaper during the day!?) Trent decided to take the kids to the posse grounds and let the kids ride. Grace decided to freak out. ( Still don't know what spooked her.) She reared up and came down on the horse trailer and split her chest open about 12 inches between her front legs. Oh so disgusting. In the process, she got a cut above her eye that took a bunch of stitches. FYI, rarely do they stitch a horse, so yes, if anyone loves disgusting, the wound between her legs is left open. If it were up to me, I would be standing in my front yard with a sign that read: " FREE HORSES!" and "Will work for vet bill relief!"

Great news from the burn unit!

Come to find out, Maggie wasn't infected! I love it when Dr's are wrong. The burn unit debreded her and did a little physical therapy. They put her on a new topical antibiotic and she is doing wonderfully. Her legs have beautiful new pink skin along with her stomach and wrist. She still has three spots that are still healing. Hopefully by our next visit to the burn unit, she will be good as new. She can't wait to play in water, other than a shower. If she can't drink it, she can't be in it, is the rule of thumb. She is so strong and patient. What an amazing girl!

Maggie update

Well, we got too excited too fast. She is re-infected and are heading down to the U of U burn center tomorrow. All I know is that they said to drug her up 15 minutes prior to arrival. So not looking forward to this, but she sure is a trooper:)

Maggie is the BRAVEST girl I know!

Saturday, July 10th Maggie had some soup, that had cooked in the microwave for 10 minutes, accidentally spilled in her lap. She suffered first and second degree burns from her belly button down to her thighs and her left hand and wrist. I rushed her up to the ER where they treated her wounds. They were so impressed with how well she handled everything. I faithfully changed her dressings twice a day and Monday took her in to follow up with our family doctor. He gave us the bad news that her 2nd degree burns were now infected and that they were going to need to do a wet to dry dressing to remove the infection. If you don't know, a wet dressing is placed over the wounds and left to dry. I was to take her back today and have the dry dressing removed which, if all went well, the infection would adhere to the dressing and come off with it. Great news! It worked. The doctor and nurse both told me how badly this was going to hurt her and I was sick about it. Our kids have had a lot of crazy medical things in the past, but this one takes the cake. I cried all morning. I had a good friend come over and she cried with me. I doped Maggie up with Lortab left for the procedure. Through many of our prayers and lots of my tears, little miss Maggie didn't even cry! She sat there wide eyed like such a trooper. Our doctor removed the bandages and all the yellow infection was gone and there was beautiful pink skin once again. Our prayers were answered. We are blessed to have such great people around us. Many wonderful friends and family have come by with treats, coloring books, crayons, crafts and tons of popsicles and many concerned phone calls. All the love and support is so appreciated. Thank you each very much!
We have a long road a head, but it is looking much better and brighter.

Lagoon Funny!

So we went to our annual Harmon's Lagoon Days on the 6th and had a great time. ( Pictures to come soon.) I wanted to post this before I forgot it, which doesn't take long these days. It was one of the last rides of the day, The Terror Ride. OOOHHH! So we are standing in line and Maren has this look of big eyed fright and I ask her if she is going to cry. She says, "No, but I might freak out a little bit." Trent and I could not stop laughing.

My girls are funny!

Here is how the conversation went:
McKenna - Mom, do fish sleep?
Mom - Not if they are laying on the bottom of the tank?
McKenna - It's dead?
Mom - It is, we'll have a funeral over the toilet
Maggie and Maren arguing back and forth - I want to flush it!, I want to dump it in! No, I want to flush it, then I'll dump it in!
Sorry fishy, I think they were sad for about 2 seconds and then it was all about your demise.
Lucky for us (not) we still have 8 more fishies to go. Ugh!

Eclipse Premier!

The movie was soooooo good! My friend Dawn called and wanted to know if I wanted a ticket to see it early. Is that a question? Seriously, YES. We got to see it at 8:20pm and were home by 11:30pm and had my book autographed by "Demitri." I had to reassure Trent that Demitri had nothing on him , now Emmitt on the other hand, hmm sorry. I'm back! (Team Emmitt). I have to make Trent watch the movie after it comes on DVD. Pure torture for him, but he indulges me. I swore to him that the third is the best so far. It was AWESOME. Can't wait to see it again!

Ride'em Cowboy!

We caught the cowboy in the act. I couldn't find my camera "Ahhh!" Thanks Tyler for coming prepared! Harry is such a good steer. It is going to be hard to see him go to auction after the fair.

Smile Ginger! June 19, 2010

The girls wanted their picture taken with Ginger.

Happy Birthday, Ginger!

I know I'm a girl, but seriously, I don't enjoy this dress-up stuff!
Next year could you please indulge me in some chocolate covered doggie treats. I'm sure my gut can take it. This same-old, same-old dog food is totally for the birds.
Love ya,
Ginger

Swimming Lessons

Sorry about the butt shot Kenna! Caught you on a dive. What great form!
Maren's picture was clear at the other end of the pool. Err go the lousy picture. She is the one in the middle squirting water from the toy.
Maggie's ready to dive for the rings at the bottom.

Yes, another year of swimming lessons to Brenden's dismay! Why does he have to take swimming lessons when he already knows how to swim? (What other glory does a Mother have than to make her child completely miserable?) It couldn't possibly be to make you a better swimmer, could it?
Other than Brenden, the rest of the kids are loving swimming lessons. Only one more week left.

Rainbow! June 2010

Brenden took these fabulous pictures of the rainbow's. Plural! There was a double at times. The kids were so excited and ran around in the rain. It was really cute when they started talking about God's promise to never flood the earth again and how rainbows are that promise.

Memorial Weekend

We have never taken the kids to the cemeteries for Memorial Weekend. We have taken them to funerals, but we decided it was time to make the rounds. It was a great time! We took Trent's Dad and he told us some great stories and histories. We all learned a lot and were touched by the reminiscing of what we remembered about each persons life and how they touched ours.

Award time!

Both Maggie and McKenna received awards at school. Maggie earned the Principal's award and McKenna earned the Star of Citizenship award. Way to go girls!

Maren's Preschool Graduation - May 2010

Playing her "hummer".
Maren and Mrs. Francom
Our little graduate!
I can't believe she is off to kindergarden this year. Our baby is growing up fast!

6/8/10

Okay, so we have a few new changes. We have a new email address: lindsiflorence@gmail.com, so I would love it if you would email me so I can add you in my email address book. When we stopped with Frontier I didn't get everyone's email off before they closed the account. We also have a new home phone number which I will not post here, but I can send it in a reply from your email. I want to stay in touch with all of you, so I look forward to hearing from you.

Ballet Recital

Wow! A lot of things are coming to an end. McKenna and Maggie loved ballet class this last year. They had their recital on 5/22/10. They did so great! They have both learned so much.
